Harry Rieder in military uniform

Harrison Rider is named after Herschel (Harry) Rieder; a military veteran, Holocaust survivor, entrepreneur, Rabbi, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born in Europe in 1919, Harry Rieder followed in the footsteps of his father, who was awarded an Iron Cross for Valor, and joined the Hungarian military. Dismissed mid-service for being a Jew, he went on to survive the ghetto, cattle cars, death camps, and death marches. Risking his life, Harry saved other inmates by repeatedly stealing food from the Nazi kitchens and giving it others. He practiced his religion in the camps and throughout the death marches, never losing faith and enabling others to practice as well.

After being liberated by the American 90th Infantry Division in April 1945, Harry built a successful business in Hungary which was confiscated in 1948 by the Soviets. Fleeing to America, Harry started over; building businesses in construction, commercial goods, and eventually real estate, where he worked full-time until his passing at 95. His reputation for integrity and business acumen are still spoken about by his former colleagues and partners to this day. Through sheer strength, determination, and willpower, Harry endured market downturns, construction site injuries without insurance, corrupt business associates, and more.

With his military bearing, a smile on his face, and a twinkle in his eyes, Harry reminded his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the greatness of America, the importance of family and religion, and the need to take care of others. Throughout his life, he gave generously of his time and money to charitable causes.

In his memory, 10% of all revenue (not profit, revenue) earned by Harrison Rider LLC is donated to charitable causes.
